Our PROJECT

What is HOLOGRAM?

The objectives of this project are to investigate the current needs at each partner location and develop training material that will enhance the readiness of educators to perform online STEAM education using the most effective techniques available.

School students and teachers will be enabled to conduct STEAM activities remotely using various digital technologies and forms of hardware. Specifically, HOLOGRAM will address the possibilities of using robotics and coding in new ways, by incorporating ideas from arts subjects, including dance. Embodied motion and motor skills are not just functional but are also expressive, as in dance, and health-promoting, as in exercise and physical activity. Rather than simply enabling robots to perform actions, teachers and students will collaborate in studying the meaning of actions and movements and their relation to human well-being. This is significant, partly because of the need to deploy technologies at scale in the social care and health sectors to deal with an ageing population across Europe. There will thus be considerable employment opportunities in this sector, and one major achievement of HOLOGRAM will be to begin the process of integrating teaching and learning of arts and STEM subjects in a more fundamental way than has previously been attempted. This is expected to have positive results on the gender balance across the STEAM spectrum.

Our PROJECT ACTIVITIES

HOLOGRAM will implement the following activities:

#1

Mapping and evaluation of current educational robotics practices

#2

Design of new teaching and learning methods in robotics, with an emphasis on methods that can be deployed remotely

#3

Resting and deployment of Teacher Professional Development courses to
support use of these methods

#4

Piloting of these methods in partner schools and evaluation of the results

#5

Widespread dissemination of the results
